South Australia launches UK roadshow to attract skilled construction professionals

South Australia is heading to the United Kingdom this October with its first-ever Move to South Australia UK Roadshow, inviting skilled workers, and professionals to explore the opportunity to build a rewarding life and career in one of the world’s most liveable regions.

Delivered by the Department of State Development, the roadshow follows independent research from Robert Walters, a leading recruitment and talent solutions firm, which has found that 43% of UK residents who responded to the research survey would consider relocating to South Australia, driven by elements such as the rising cost of living in the United Kingdom.

The findings also show that 50% of respondents are motivated by the promise of a better lifestyle, while 41% are drawn by the state’s strong employment prospects. Among construction professionals, 44% are motivated by new career opportunities when considering a move to South Australia.

The Move to South Australia UK Roadshow will showcase what South Australia has to offer as a relocation destination – focused on career and lifestyle opportunities, with representatives from key sectors including healthcare, education, construction, engineering, and public services. Participating construction delegates will include SA Construct, Master Builders SA and Inspired Masonry.

Employer sponsorship is the main visa pathway used by participating employers of this Roadshow to secure a future workforce. These sectors represent some of the most acute workforce shortages in our state.

Attendees will have the chance to meet directly with employers who are looking to sponsor skilled professionals, government officials, and fellow UK migrants, gaining practical insights into the migration process and life in South Australia.

Led by the Skilled and Business Migration team at the Department of State Development, the roadshow will begin its tour of the UK on the 11th of October. The event will include exhibitor booths, presentations, panel discussions, and Q&A sessions, offering a comprehensive overview of life and work in South Australia and practical advice on how to make the move.

Visitors will receive information packs, brochures, and merchandise, and will be able to network with fellow UK professionals who have already made the move.

With opportunities across healthcare, education, SA Police, construction, engineering, and more, South Australia offers a diverse and expanding job market, a relaxed lifestyle, and lower everyday costs.
