AXOR Launches UK Design Competition for Students to Showcase Their Take on Luxury

AXOR is inviting current and recently graduated interior design students from across the UK and Ireland to design a compact luxury bathroom. Entries should be submitted by 1 November 2024 with the winner receiving a one-night luxury stay at The Broadwick Soho hotel in London.

Warwick, June 2024. German design brand AXOR has launched an exciting UK and Ireland competition for current interior design students and those who have graduated within the past three years.

It challenges the next generation of creative interior design talent to help shape the future of luxury bathrooms, by developing planning concepts for a bathroom space inspired by their personal interpretation of luxury, using signature products from existing AXOR collections.

Entries need to include a base description of the design solution, alongside a mood board and 2D plans with measurements. Types of materials, colour scheme, lighting and styling concepts also need to be considered throughout the entry and demonstrated with CAD drawings, sketches, and collages to bring the idea to life.

Students and recent graduates have until 1 November 2024 to enter. The winner submitting the most inspiring creative response to the brief will receive a one-night stay at the recently opened luxury Broadwick Soho Hotel in London.

The Broadwick Soho, an independent, luxury hotel situated in London’s West End was designed by the team at Martin Brudnizki Design Studio. The hotel bathrooms feature products from the classic AXOR Montreux collection, which were customised through AXOR Signature to elevate user experience.

George McPherson, leading furniture and FFE designer at the Martin Brudnizki Design Studio and a key member of the design team working on the Broadwick Soho project, will join the competition judging panel alongside Anke Sohn, Head of Global Brand Marketing for AXOR, and Alys Bryan, Managing Director at Design Insider.

Anke Sohn, comments: “We are honoured to witness leading designers around the world as they create individual bathroom spaces with AXOR. It is therefore vital that we continue to support new interior design talent to help them thrive. I look forward to seeing how the students in the design competition work with the testing brief we have set.”

Alys Bryan says: “Emerging designers help to formulate fresh ideas and new responses for the industry. We are delighted to partner with AXOR on this exciting competition which will showcase how the next generation interprets luxury and applies this to a bathroom concept – a project that is typical of our industry and will test their design and planning skills.”

George McPherson concludes: “Delivering a luxury-based bathroom experience suitable for modern living sets a real design test.  It is why I am intrigued to see the ideas from young interior design students who will be faced with such projects during their working careers.  It will be interesting to see how they incorporate AXOR into their overall space concepts and create a bathroom experience that stands out.”
