Davidsons Homes starts work on new development in Rushden

Davidsons Homes has started work on a development of 80 new homes after purchasing seven acres of land in Rushden.

The company has full planning consent for the development off Northampton Road, on land to the east of Brindley Close.

The development will be known as Sanders Fields. It will bring one, two, three, four and five-bedroom homes to the area, including a selection of two-bedroom bungalows.

Simon Tyler, Sales Director for Davidsons Homes South Midlands, said: “We completed the land purchase at Northampton Road, Rushden, in September and construction work started on the site last month.

“The land had already been allocated for housing as this part of Rushden continues to expand. With Rushden Lakes Shopping Centre close by, and excellent transport links via the A45 and Wellingborough railway station, we anticipate these homes will be popular among people moving to the area, as well as those already living in East Northamptonshire.

“We have identified a need for a wide range of homes in Rushden. We sought to address this by providing homes in a variety of sizes and layouts. The inclusion of four bungalows will help to meet a lack of supply in single-storey homes.

“First-time buyers may be able to apply for funding through the Government’s Help to Buy scheme to assist them in purchasing one of our homes.

“We will be investing in infrastructure to support the expansion of the area and will also provide affordable housing to help meet local need.”

As part of the planning agreement for the development, Davidsons Homes will be contributing £584,737 towards local primary and secondary education, £80,000 towards public transport, £18,115 towards library services and a further £21,520 towards ecological enhancements around the Upper Nene Valley Gravel Pits Special Protection Area.

The housebuilder will also be providing 24 affordable homes at the development in addition to creating large areas of public open space.

Davidsons Homes has recently opened two showhomes at its Diamond Heights development in Irthlingborough. To find out more about the homes being built in Rushden or Irthlingborough, or about careers with Davidsons Homes, visit davidsonshomes.co.uk.
