Ecco Stove now provides another option in renewable heating

Recent stories in the media have been rife with criticism over the emissions from wood burning stoves. However, back in 2008 David Ashmore, an expert in the wood stove industry for the last 35 years, being based in the Cotswolds had spent two years developing a cleaner process for alternative home heating producing exceptionally low emissions from an innovative design of wood stove burning readily available wood logs.
David’s concept was to provide a simple solution and move away from the new generation of efficient but over complicated pellet and chip boilers. By producing an appliance that is so simple to control in one operation providing balanced home heating and as user friendly as possible.
No connections to electricity or radiators are needed.
Over years of research, David settled on using a wholly ceramic material blended with Silicone Carbide, for its unique properties of heat absorption and gentle slow heat release. The purpose of which was to create an exceptionally high burn temperature for perfect combustion but linked to very gentle heat release to travel through much more of the home rather than over heating a single room (as is typical with most traditional steel or cast iron wood stoves).
Initial concept designs and prototypes were trialled at their family home in Ilmington on the edge of the Cotswolds. Their 17th Century stone house was ideal for testing the benefits of the new concept Ecco Stove as 13 rooms in a stone house were impossible to heat with a single conventional stove without the consumption of £1800 worth of oil used for the central heating each winter.
Birmingham University were employed with the assistance of a Government Grant scheme to quantify quite how this new invention could so successfully heat a whole house. The proof of their study is published on both the University’s and Ecco Stove’s websites.
Using as little as 7kgs of logs the thermal mass body of the stove heats up within 1 – 1.5 hours from cold at the start of the heating season or 3/4 of an hour when in daily use; whilst building up highly efficient incineration level temperatures for cleaner combustion. The stored heat is then released for up to 12 hours after the fire has gone out at a balanced comfortable rate.
It does not stop there! A combination of slow heat release and Silicon Carbide’s heat distribution properties allows heat to warm through much more of the home than just one room, simply through leaving doors open throughout the house. The low frequency heat waves that Silicone Carbide produces will travel much further that the high frequency heatwaves metal stoves produce. For example, the 678 Model can evenly heat up to a 3/4 bedroom house.
This not only solves the current issue of how to burn wood economically, cleanly and satisfying the upcoming 2022 Eco Design Standard in low particulates. It also provides a back up or alternative home heating solution.
The Ecco Stove now provides another option in renewable heating; providing off grid heating for your home or a sustainable eco friendly means saving money on your existing heating system.
Truly a British made heating solution sold not only in the UK but around the world from its base in Warwickshire.
Ecco Stove Limited offer a site survey service where your home will be assessed and a heat plan provided detailing the temperature bands you can achieve in each room, how much fuel you will likely use to achieve those temperatures and of course which model of stove will be most suitable
