Egad and Tikal, step lights by Platek’s R&D Light that guides with precision, engineering that becomes invisible

The result of Platek’s in-house research and development, Egad and Tikal represent technological and design excellence in the field of architectural lighting. Two step lights differing in shape and destination, yet united by the same philosophy: putting light at the centre, with advanced technical solutions that seamlessly integrate into their surroundings.

Egad, with its minimalist design and compact dimensions, is designed to disappear into the architecture, allowing light itself to define the space. Installed beneath the step nosing, it illuminates the tread surface with precision and without glare, thanks to Platek’s optical system developed to ensure maximum efficiency and flux control. Its understated elegance is the result of sophisticated engineering, capable of combining aesthetics, functionality, and durability.

Tikal, with its minimal dimensions – just 70 mm in height and 35 mm in width – brings the same rigour to different contexts: walls, handrail posts, pedestrian pathways, and residential spaces. Its asymmetric, diffused beam surprises with its reach and softness, despite emanating from a compact, discreet fixture. Here too, behind the apparent simplicity lies Platek’s precision optical system, designed to offer visual comfort and safety without intrusion, all housed within the extremely compact body.

Both step lights are suited to meet the needs of the most varied contexts, also thanks to their small dimensions, but find immediate application in the hospitality and residential sectors.

In both products, maximum attention is paid to materials and processes: primary aluminium treated with multi-stage galvanic anodisation, double-layer high-thickness coating, and glass bonding preceded by advanced atmospheric plasma treatment. Every detail is designed to ensure high performance even in extreme conditions, with corrosion resistance in salt spray testing exceeding industry standards.

Egad and Tikal are not merely lighting fixtures: they are precision devices, designed to last and to enhance architecture with intelligence and discretion. Platek’s signature lies in the light, but above all, in the technology that makes it possible.
