Design Engine Architects commissioned for Gordon Murray Headquarters
 
Design Engine Architects have been commissioned to develop a scheme for the new HQ building for GORDON MURRAY DESIGN following an invited competition against Foster+Partners.
The 8,500m2 development will be located close to the existing GMD headquarters in Shalford, Surrey and will comprise 6 buildings to be constructed across three phases, with the Design & Engineering block in phase 1, main HQ and restaurant in phase 2 and the remainder to follow in phase 3. The scheme will be submitted for planning in February/March 2018 with construction due to start onsite in July 2018.
Led by Professor Gordon Murray, whose 50-year career encompasses Formula 1 World Championship-winning cars for Brabham and McLaren and the McLaren F1 Road Car which is still regarded as the world’s best engineered vehicle, Gordon Murray Design has built a Global reputation as one of the ‘finest automotive design teams in the World’ and was established in 2007 to develop an innovative and disruptive manufacturing technology trademarked iStream®.

One Formula gathered together, for the first and possibly only time in one location, more than 40 iconic and historically significant race and road cars from Professor Gordon Murray’s 50-year career.
