Hawkins\Brown squeezes 100 extra homes on to Olympic Park plot

Hawkins\Brown has won approval to add an extra 102 homes to an already consented scheme next to the Olympic Park, east London.

The proposals for Plot N06 within the so-called East Village – the former London 2012 Athletes’ Village – were granted permission by the London Legacy Development Corporation and include 524 new homes within two towers of 26 and 31 storeys.

Each of these towers will be connected to a lower block of 10 storeys, and linked by a ‘sky bridge’.

The scheme also includes 1,603m² of retail space on the ground floors.

Backed by Get Living, the scheme increases the number of homes on the development site, which will all be for rent, from the 422 as approved in the original scheme in 2014.

This means the residential floor area of the scheme will increase from 45,438m² to  51,927m².

A spokesperson from Get Living said: ’Improvements to the structural efficiencies in the design, while maintaining the same height of the towers and the same internal floor to ceiling heights, has resulted in an increase in the number of storeys and homes.’
