Living in Britain can guarantee a hefty amount of rain. Nowhere is safe, from the north to the south coast. And once it rains, it pours. Cue lots of properties ruined with untold damage. While there is nothing you can do about the extreme weather, protecting your home from the elements is very much in your hands. Founded in 1965, Sovereign has long been acknowledged as the respected name for supplying products and equipment for the building industry. The company is the leader in damp proofing, structural waterproofing and timber preservation throughout the UK.

Sovereign is fully committed to continual improvement of its products and service levels and works in close partnership with customers to constantly develop innovative new solutions and technologies. As part of this process, the company has become a leader in the promotion of environmentally responsible technologies; where possible using recycled raw materials to cut waste and water-dilutable concentrates to reduce transport volumes and the carbon footprint.
Enjoying 25 years ‘By Royal Appointment
Perhaps the greatest single endorsement of quality and service a British company can receive is the award of the ‘Royal Warrant’, which records product use and official approval by one of the leading members of the Royal Family. Sovereign was very proud to receive the highest honour with the granting of the Queen’s Royal Warrant more than 25 years ago. This coveted award was made in recognition of the great success with which Sovereign products have been used in a number of Royal properties. This confirms Sovereign’s products are of the highest quality possible.
Damp proofing solutions

The common furniture beetle – ‘woodworm’. There’s an army of bugs and larvae just waiting to
munch their way through untreated timbers
Sovereign manufacture an extensive range of highly effective damp proofing systems ideally suited to renovation and improvement of fine properties. Most types of masonry walls allow some water to rise through them, though this is usually kept to a minimum by use of a physical ‘damp proof course’ (DPC). Traditionally many older properties either utilise slate or bitumen to provide a barrier – or simply don’t have a damp course at all! Rising damp becomes a common occurrence where the DPC is absent, broken down or damaged. Sovereign offers a range of remedial damp proofing products, having third party British Board of Agrément Certification, including high-quality injection fluids and creams; along with all the installation equipment and specialist renovating renders and plasters essential to solve the damp issues you encounter during any renovation work.
Timber preservation
Whether as a result of rot or insect infestation, some decay of building timber is almost inevitable in a property. While timber is a relatively durable material in ideal conditions, dampness makes it vulnerable to damage by dry and wet rot. This softened wood also makes excellent food for a variety of insects that will bore and chew their way through your building timbers. Sovereign manufactures and supplies a huge range of health and safety executive-approved timber preservatives and treatment products, that provide highly effective protection against fungal infection and insect attack.
Condensation control
Today, condensation is probably the most common cause of dampness in the home. Put simply, ‘condensation’ is water that condenses from damp air onto cold surfaces. Most often seen during the cold winter months, the use of modern draft exclusion and double glazing to ‘seal’ homes make condensation issues a commonplace occurrence. Condensation can be controlled by ensuring an adequate balance between heating, ventilation and insulation, but more often than not, further measures are required to control problem condensation. Sovereign manufactures and supplies an extensive range of condensation control products. These vary from Passive Vapour Vents, Humidity Tracking Extract Fans and Positive Input Ventilation Systems which are highly effective in reducing condensation problems, through to Scrub Out Black Mould, Dentolite Sterilising Solution, Mould Control Packs and Fungi-Chek Emulsion Paints for treating and preventing black spot mould.
Basement conversion systems
As property prices rocket many families find themselves yearning for extra space, yet find they can’t afford to trade-up. As a result there’s a growing movement to better-utilise the space you already have; converting dank and dingy cellars into bright, stylish extra accommodation. Cellar space is ideal for TV or cinema rooms, gyms and games rooms, a mega kitchen, home office or utility space. In cities, where living space is at a real premium, many homeowners are reaping the rewards of creating a basement flat that can be lucratively let or used as accommodation for older children or parents. Working in close accordance with BS8102:2009 code of practice for protecting underground structures from ground water, Sovereign provides a unique individualised basement waterproofing specification service to customers.
