New open cohort offers leadership training for managers across multiple sectors

Leaders across multiple sectors can now access a leading training provider’s Level 5 Operations Manager apprenticeship.

Realise currently delivers this qualification to groups of apprentices from specific businesses, but it is now open to any employed individual from any organisation looking to strengthen their leadership and management skills.

The new cohort launches this December, giving professionals the opportunity to develop confident, inclusive leadership skills. Participants will learn to manage teams, deliver operational plans, and drive business success in line with organisational goals and policies.

Karen Matthews, Director of Business Skills Solutions at Realise, said:

“The Level 5 Operations Manager apprenticeship has delivered excellent results for our employer partners, including GA Trains and Wickes, and we’re on track to see the same success with Giacom when their apprentices complete the programme in the spring. Leadership today is about driving performance and taking responsibility. This apprenticeship equips leaders to inspire their teams, optimise operations, and deliver real results that make a difference across their organisation.”

Realise works closely with organisations to ensure all leadership and management apprenticeships deliver a measurable, positive impact on the business. By identifying key business needs, defining relevant KPIs, and tracking learners’ development, the programme gives employers quantifiable evidence of improvements in performance, engagement, productivity, and other operational outcomes.

This open cohort is funded through the apprenticeship levy, meaning there is no cost for many businesses. Non-levy paying employers receive a 95% government contribution, leaving just a small amount to cover.

Developed by Realise’s in-house leadership and management experts, the qualification blends management theory with practical, interactive learning, creating a dynamic environment for collaboration, networking, and shared learning. The programme equips participants with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours to lead effectively, make informed decisions, manage resources and deliver measurable improvements in business performance – ultimately making a real impact across their organisation.

Learning topics include leadership and management of teams, operational and project planning, delivering operational plans, resource management, performance monitoring, problem-solving, stakeholder engagement, and ensuring compliance with organisational policies and legislation.

Realise has been delivering the Operations Manager Level 5 apprenticeship to technology platform provider Giacom since May, giving its people the opportunity to upskill and progress in their careers.

Emma Campbell-Critchley, Apprenticeship Lead at Giacom, said:

“From day one, the Realise team has been incredibly supportive, always available to answer questions. They make the onboarding process straightforward and stress-free and bring the programmes to life effectively.”

Learners must be in employment to take part in the apprenticeship. The 16-month programme, followed by an End Point Assessment, combines online classroom sessions, interactive webinars, one-to-one support, and practical assignments to provide a comprehensive learning experience.
