With its modular design, this generation is perfectly suited to offices, educational facilities and cultural sites. A variety of sizes, shapes, beam characteristics and an acoustic option are available, so there are no limits to the architectural creativity possible with PANOS III. Not only do these downlights blend seamlessly into any interior ambience, but they also connect with a building’s digital ecosystem—with integrated daylight controls and presence detection. Their durability and low lumen depreciation make these luminaires even more sustainable.

The new PANOS III luminaire family from Zumtobel combines versatility with excellent light quality and sustainability. Thanks to its clean design and numerous installation options, this minimalistic all-rounder blends harmoniously into modern interiors, whether as a statement piece in an office reception or as a subtle wayfinding aid in a museum. In keeping with New Work principles, the new flat and round pendant luminaires lend workplaces a homely character. A slim, cylindrical pendant solution for functional and architectural lighting tasks completes the PANOS III portfolio.

Maximum variety with consistent light quality

To cover a wide range of applications, PANOS III is available in multiple sizes, shapes and LED variants. For maximum design freedom, customers can choose built-in, semi-surface-mounted, surface-mounted or pendant options. Luminaires can be installed on plastered surfaces or integrated into a track. In combination with TECTON or three-phase tracks, the pendant versions can be re-positioned in an instant, ideal for dynamic New Work spaces.

Despite this flexibility, light quality remains reliably consistent. PANOS III delivers high-quality white light with excellent colour rendering (CRI > 90) and luminous efficacy of up to 159 lm/W. Precision-moulded polycarbonate reflectors, refined with sputtering technology, direct the light exactly where it is needed. With installation depths of just 100 or 120 mm, PANOS III is a flat downlight with high visual comfort and UGR < 19 glare control. The lowest installation depths of 70 or 75 mm are achieved with PANOS LOW reflectors. Depending on the requirement and room size, all downlights are available in 150 mm and 200 mm diameters.

Light that sounds good

Modern offices must balance collaboration and concentration. PANOS III supports both: its light quality renders saturated red tones naturally, while acoustic performance can be enhanced through integration with baffle ceilings. In addition, Zumtobel offers dedicated acoustic fleece covers for PANOS III. These effectively absorb noise and are available in 19 colour variants to suit any décor. Combining acoustics and light in a slim ceiling element reduces materials and installation effort—while improving aesthetics and concentration.

Sustainability – more than the sum of its parts

All modular PANOS III elements: drivers, LED boards, reflectors, installation rings and heat sinks, can be replaced without major conversion work, enabling quick upgrades and refurbishments. PANOS III uniquely combines aesthetics and convenience with sustainability: after 50,000 hours of operation the maximum reduction in luminous flux is just 10% (L90); after 100,000 hours, a maximum reduction of 20% (L80) is possible.

Sustainability also underpins the D4i-compliant sensor technology integrated into the lighting chamber for demand-oriented, forward-looking lighting management. It provides insights into luminaire status, room occupancy, daylight levels, power consumption and more. Zumtobel’s LightingGO lighting-management platform uses this real-time information as a smart-building cockpit, providing access to all components in Zumtobel’s ecosystem: luminaires, sensors and Venetian blinds.
