An exciting new modularity enhances PLUS, the system of modular elements designed by Francesco Rota in 2017 for Lapalma, which meets various needs of the home and contract sectors with its softness and versatility.

PLUS features a soft silhouette and a seat that extends generously to accommodate an outstretched body. The system, which gives rise to various solutions, is now even more flexible with its extremely simple coupling system that reassembles volumes and redesigns its profile. If up to now, it offered modules in three different shapes – square, classic rectangular and with rounded sides, for perfect alignment with the natural curve of SCREEN partition panels – it now embraces new curved elements for the backrest and seat, designed to provide increasingly versatile and timely responses to interior designers’ demands.

The ‘add on’ elements allow even more options, with volumes and shapes that let you compose new ingenious solutions. Depending on the position chosen for the backrest –front and/or back of the seat – you can create two different types of sofa: the concave corner defines a more classic and cosy composition, whereas, also taking advantage of the convex corner, you can create interesting face-to- face solutions or S-, V- or U-shaped configurations that give a nod to the contract world.

And so, if two sofas with internal seating modules, placed opposite each other, create a kind of cocoon that fits pleasantly into home interiors or hotel lounge areas, the exceptional versatility inherent in the design provides complex modular systems that bring variety to larger contexts – from airport lounge areas to museum halls.

PLUS | new curved modules is also presented paired with a new low table featuring an architectural design and versatile vocation: placed next to the sofa along its longest side – measuring the same as the seat and back combined – it elegantly closes the corner providing a handy top. When turned around – so that the short side measures the same as the seating surface – it complements the composition more freely, also acting as a dividing element between two modules. Open wide on all sides, it is perfect for housing your favourite objects or books.
