RH Partnership Architects completes Cambridge University boathouse

RH Partnership Architects has unveiled a new boathouse for the Cambridge colleges of Churchill, King’s and Selwyn on the banks of the River Cam.
The facility replaces the previous 1960s boathouse, which the city council derided as a “building that detracted” from the riverside conservation area.
The new boathouse includes changing rooms, fitness rooms, four club rooms and garage-style boat storage bays.
Peter Brett Associates helped design the project to be resilient to flooding and gain approval from the Environment Agency for a flood risk assessment and flood evacuation plan. The Cam side site is prone to flooding of up to 1m in height.
The facility will also be used by The Leys School.
