Riyadh Metro opens its “Qasr AL Hokm” station to the public

The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) today announced that its Riyadh Metro’s “Qasr Al Hokm” station will open its doors to the public effective this morning, which will enhance the Riyadh Public Transport network, and provide residents and visitors with better connectivity and accessibility across the city.
Qasr Al Hokm station is located in Riyadh’s historic old downtown, a vibrant area known for its museums, souks, and other prominent cultural and government landmarks. It is one of the four iconic stations of the Riyadh Metro, featuring innovative architectural elements, including a landmark steel canopy that visually connects the station levels, channeling natural daylight into the underground station, while providing shade to surrounding public areas.
The station’s design is sustainable on multiple levels – environmentally, through providing energy and water conservation, daylight harvesting, and natural shading and ventilation. It also boasts a shaded lush garden where passengers can relax and wait for their trains whilst seated. This enhances the station’s multifunctional role by creating an inviting public space that fosters interaction among residents and visitors.
Qasr Al Hokm Station is one of the 22 stations on the Orange Line (Line 3), which is the longest route within the Riyadh Metro network. The station serves both the Blue and Orange lines and spans an area of 22,500 square meters and comprises seven underground levels reaching a depth of 35 meters.
The Riyadh Metro network is driverless, fully automated with Unattended Train Operation (UTO) technology, spanning 176 kilometers across 6 lines and 85 stations.
Since the Riyadh Metro began operations on 1 December 2024, it has served over 18 million users across its six lines.
