The Sash Window Workshop Install Traditional, Energy Efficient Windows and Doors in the Cotswolds
With increasing energy bills, upgrading to energy efficient windows and doors has never been more important.
The Sash Window Workshop were contacted to upgrade the windows and doors for a property in the Cotswolds. The work was carried out as part of a larger renovation project to restore the property to be more period appropriate.
The existing windows were 2 over 2 sash windows, but these didn’t suit the style of the property, so the customer wanted to replace the windows to be more in keeping as well as being double glazed.
After discussing the different options, a quote was sent across for replacement 6 over 6 sash windows and new doors. The quote was for a mixture of complete new windows, new doors, and new sashes (the moving parts of the window) being installed into the existing window frames.
The customer decided to split the work across several separate orders between October 2020 and November 2021.
As the property was in a conservation area, and the windows were not being replaced like-for-like, planning permission needed to be obtained. After the order was placed, a manufacturing survey was carried out and detailed drawings were sent to the customer to accompany their planning application.
The new joinery was then manufactured at The Sash Window Workshop’s workshops in Bracknell, Berkshire. Extra care was required to ensure that the windows and doors met the exact requirements to comply with the approved planning application and ensure that the new windows and doors operated smoothly. The new joinery was made in Accoya, which comes with a 50 year anti-rot guarantee, and finished in a bespoke semi-gloss paint.
After the windows and door were manufactured, they were installed by The Sash Window Workshop’s skilled fitters.
In total, across all the orders, 1 complete new window and 2 complete new French doors were manufactured and installed for the customer, along with 24 sets of new sashes manufactured and installed into the existing window frames.
All the windows and doors were double glazed and draught proofed to improve energy efficiency, helping to keep down the customer’s energy bills and make the property more comfortable to live in.
Since The Sash Window Workshop completed the work, the customer commented that the product and service was excellent and noted that they would recommend the company to anyone looking for new windows or doors.
