Underfloor heating – it’s electric!

speedheat logoElectrical underfloor heating from Speedheat could be the ideal solution to keeping you cosy, whatever the challenge.

This versatile and adaptable system is equally comfortable in a British home, in a castle, for a hotel or offices or in one of the coldest places on earth!

It is the only electrical floor heating company in the UK that manufactures, designs and installs its own state-of-the-art system. This allows the team of engineers and installers to create the right solution for every individual project, often working in partnership with other contactors to ensure the result is fit for purpose.

Through innovation, technical know-how and partnership with sub-floor specialist Ardex and flooring supplier Element 7, a damp proof ‘sandwich’ solution was created to prevent moisture from the cellar seeping into the floor above and safely encasing the tough Speedheat cabling.

Partnership was also key to finding a speedheat harrogate apartmentway of installing Speedheat on top of sound proofing during the conversion of three, first floor Victorian flats in Harrogate into one luxury apartment.

Element 7 oak flooring, Speedheat and Acoustilay foam-based soundproofing underlay from Sound Reduction Systems were all specified. However, the underlay meant the normal process to bond flooring to Speedheat was out of the question.

The three companies came up with the idea of using industrial double-sided bonding tape and ran a test bed for six months of normal domestic use. It all worked beautifully.

Speedheat is always happy to go to extremes for customers – such as the South African National Antarctic Expedition (SANAE) IV research station where keeping warm in temperatures that can plunge to -50oC in the long, dark winters is not a choice but a matter of survival.

The base is on Vesleskarvet about 100 miles from the coast. Its three modules are on stilts to keep them clear of the deep snows, with electricity powered by diesel generators. As part of a renovation project, Speedheat’s floor heating was chosen for supplementary, thermostatically-controlled warmth in two of the modules and designed for the different final floorings, such as bamboo laminate, vinyl and tiles.Aasta Hansteen

The company has quite literally gone to the both ends of the earth as it has also been contracted to supply floor heating for crew accommodation on Statoil Norway’s Aasta Hansteen gas rig in the Norwegian Sea.

That’s not all. Speedheat was the choice for a house with curved walls because it could be tailored to fit. It is also running smoothly as the primary heating system in a home powered by solar energy and when it comes to historic buildings that require a sensitive touch, Speedheat is there, too, such as the extraordinary Durlston Castle in Dorset.

Speedheat_durlston 1At just 1.5mm deep and with no major installation upheaval, the system is straightforward to install without any noticeable build-up in floor height and is equally comfortable in a conservatory, a single cold spot or as the primary heating for an entire building.

There is also now the plug and go Rugbuddy option, which combines Speedheat quality, safety and performance with a DIY product perfect for under rugs in specific areas.
