Reynaers heads out on the road to help architects and specifiers understand Part L changes

Reynaers Aluminium UK Limited is calling on architects and specifiers to sign up to its roadshows and find out how the Government’s changes to Part L of the Building Regulations will impact on their day-to-day activities.
The amendments will come into effect on June 15, 2022. They aim to help combat climate change by reducing the amount of carbon emitted from new homes by 30% and by 27% for other buildings, including offices and shops, compared to current levels which were implemented in 2013.
To achieve this, the revised Part L sets new minimum efficiency standards for both new and replacement thermal elements, windows, and doors. This, in turn, means technical changes to how and what products are specified to be compliant.
Having been involved in the consultation process to agree the revisions, Reynaers understands the impact these amendments will have on the construction industry. It has been working hard over the past year to ensure its products and systems are fully compliant when the updated regulations come into force.
To help guide and support its partners through the changes, the company has organised a series of regional roadshows specifically for the architectural and specification sectors. The events are being held in London, Birmingham, and Manchester to give as many people as possible the chance to sign up and attend.
Tuesday, March 15: IET Austin Court, Birmingham,
Wednesday, March 16: Wallace Space, Clerkenwell Green, London
Thursday, March 17: CityCo, Manchester
The half-day roadshows, starting at 1.30pm, will be led by Reynaers’ Director of Technical Services John McComb, who has been actively involved with the consultation process leading to these changes. As well as hearing how Reynaers’ products meet, and in some cases exceed, the new standards without compromising on quality, performance or aesthetics, guests will have the chance to speak to the company’s team of technical experts. Additional amendments to Part L that are due to be implemented in 2025 will also be discussed and the challenges faced by the industry will be debated.
John McComb said: “The changes to Part L of the Building Regulations, as well as the amendments to Part F and the introduction of Part O, are significant and will have a major impact on the construction industry and its suppliers. We have been working for well over a year to ensure our partners in the architectural and specification industries have access to a wide range of information on what the changes mean, as well as to products and systems that are fully compliant with the regulations.
“The content of the three roadshows has been tailored specifically for architects and specifiers and aims to bring them up to speed with the changes. We are looking forward not only to educating our customers on the new rules but also to discussing any issues or concerns they may have related to them.”
