Owatrol Solutions showcase – the London 2012 Olympic International velodrome

The Olympic Delivery Authority worked with Hopkins Architects to create the London 2012 Olympic International velodrome, where 1,600 litres of Clear Textrol saturating wood oil finish were applied to its 5000m2 custom cut Western Red Cedar (R-List #2 Clear grade, 100% PEFC certified, 18mm x 140mm) ship lapped boards.

Textrol saturating wood oil finish

Textrol is a penetrating oil finish that is designed to revitalise weather-beaten, dried-out decks and exterior wood. Textrol restores the rich, warm appearance of natural wood and beautifies exterior wood.

Developed to penetrate deep into the wood, it protects against damage caused by moisture and ultraviolet rays and provides a mildew resistant finish that will not crack, peel or flake. When Textrol is first applied, the wood will darken to a rich matt colour, and then gradually lighten depending on the intensity of sun exposure.

SI106 saturating wood finish

SI106 is a waterborne, penetrating wood finish for industrial application. Based on a mix of alkyd and acrylic resins, SI106 is non-film forming, so will not crack, peel or flake. Saturating, sealing and stabilising the wood, it minimises cracking, warping and other damage caused by the sun and moisture.

Containing premium, UV absorbing trans-oxide pigments, SI106 provides a long lasting, rich matt finish on soft and hardwoods, accentuating the natural beauty of the wood.

Aquadecks wood finish

Aquadecks is a water-based penetrating wood finish that provides a flexible, long-lasting rich, matt finish for all woods, including exotic hardwoods.

For use on both interior and exterior wood, Aquadecks saturates, penetrates and stabilises the wood from within to minimise cracking, warping and other damage caused by the sun and rain.

Oxid Vernis clear metal varnish

Oxid Vernis is a single pack clear varnish, enriched with polyurethane-modified alkyd resins for use on new or oxidised metals that have previously been treated with Owatrol Oil and where the natural look of the surface is to be maintained. Combining performance with ease of application, Oxid Vernis is long-lasting, has high UV resistance and is especially adapted for harsh climates.

Perfect for use on interior and exterior metals such as gates, furniture, fences, ornaments etc. and can be used on horizontal or vertical surfaces with ease, whilst maintaining the natural appearance of the substrate.
